New York: Prime Minister Hun Sen urges countries around the world to respect and adhere to the principles and charter of the United Nations in order to maintain peace, which is something that people around the world want.

Addressing the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Hun Sen highlighted the growing global uncertainty as tensions escalate in the arms race, the rise of small security alliances, war on technology and trade, economic sanctions, and the growing threat to multilateralism.

The three major issues raised at the General Assembly were the Russia-Ukraine war, North Korea's nuclear weapons, and the China-US confrontation over Taiwan.

The Prime Minister said: "As a country that had difficulties in finding peace in its history, Cambodia has been trying to engage constructively with the United Nations in supporting peace and international security as well as promoting respect for the fundamental principles and values of the United Nations charter and international law."

Cambodia has been through many years of civil war and internal divisions before achieving the peace it has today. Prime Minister Hun Sen has often said that Cambodia has experienced enough war and division and does not want to see this happen to any other country. He wants to share the experience so that the other countries as well as the whole world would escape these wars and divisions.
